A central feature of the Rahman Limaj Scholarship Program is that it was created by a former villager and his family abroad. This expatriate connection makes our commitment to the village sustainable and keeps administration costs low. We are able to follow each student individually, accounting for virtually every denar spent, avoiding leakage of funds without exorbitant overhead costs. This design also gives the Program invaluable goodwill, since we do not have to prove our interest in the village, and enhances accountability of participants, since our faces are familiar and they know we will visit again soon.
